Family is important, more than you know. So cherish the memories, and never let go.

Memorial Day Fun

 THE BABIES ROOM

The babies room is all set up and ready for Izabella.  Yesterday was so much fun going through all the new baby clothes and the beautiful baby stuff that Tiffany received at the baby shower.

Daniel and Jiaro did such a wonderful job painting the room.  While Tiffany, Britney and I washed and folded all the clothes.  Oh I can't forget Geraldine she tried so hard to put this baby jumpy thing together.  She finally had it almost done and the last piece just wouldn't fit.  After working for a very long time on it she gave up.  Later on Tiffany and I were looking at it and we both just started laughing, the main bar was upside down and that is why she was having such a hard time.  Tiffany plans on putting lots of frames and pictures on the wall and she also bought a ABC rug to put on the floor.

GIRLS DAY

A little pampering was what we needed.  5 women going out and getting their nails and toes all prettied up.  In attendance was Grandma White, Nancy, Tiffany, Geraldine and of course Me.  We had so much fun, we chatted and laughed and most of all just sat back and relaxed.

The theme of the day seemed to be Poke-a-dots.

Grandma has HOT PINK polish with Star bursts on her nails and toes, and Geraldine had plaid nails and toes when she was done.  Tiffany went with lime green and pink poke-a-dots.  Nancy has red and I have purple poke-a-dots.  They all turned out awesome.

Thanks ladies for such a wonderful day!!!!

TIFFANY & DANIEL'S BABY SHOWER

What an AMAZING day it was!!!!!  Daniel's sister Geraldine and friend Britney hosted the baby shower.  They did such an awesome job.  The decorations and the food was OUTSTANDING!!!!

Tiffany and Daniel received a lot of wonderful gifts.  The baby will be able to wear an new outfit at least 3 times a day for the first year. It took over and hour and a half for Tiffany to open all the gifts.  I wonder where they are going to put it all?

Great Grandma White even won a prize for guessing how many chocolates were in the baby bottle.  Maybe she will charge Great Grandpa White a quarter for each piece of chocolate he eats and start Izabella's first savings account.
Two of my very close friends Pamela and Karen, came to the baby shower.  It was so wonderful seeing them again.  I use to work with this awesome ladies, and I miss them so much.  It made my day spending time with them.

When I had Tiffany they didn't have SPA'S for baby's. What an fantastic gift.  I can't wait to see how it is used.

IZABELLA'S FIRST COACH BLANKET
Aunt Nancy hand made this beautiful baby coach baby blanket.  She put in lots of love with every hand stitch.  When Tiffany and Daniel got home they had to pull it out and look at it again.

I spent all day Friday stuffing these baskets full of baby clothes and other varies items.  It was so fun putting them together.

My favorite picture of all.  I have been gaining weight to keep up with Tiffany.  I can't wait for the baby to be born so I can go on a diet. hahaha
Sure can tell we are mother and daughter.

I'M BORED

What to do today.  I slept in til 8:30am, sat out on my porch for a while, watered my plants.  I have played with my dogs, watched my soap opera's.  I really need to get caught up on some house work but that doesn't sound like fun.  I think I will take a nap in a little while.  That should kill some time.

I'm HUNGRY....
I'm already missing Dad's great breakfast's!!!!!

An Very Awesome Day May 26, 2011

RADIATION TREATMENTS ARE DONE!!!!!!!

"CONGRATULATIONS MOM"

Mom had her last treatment and then saw Dr. Yang afterwards.  He showed us her before and after xrays and it was very exciting. The tumor has decreased in size, more then half.  He said that it will continue to get smaller over the next couple of months. He was very happy with the out come. He also thought Mom seemed to have more energy now then she did when she first came in. He wants to see her in a month and probably every month after that for a while.  It is such a relief that she came through this so well.  I think Nancy, Dad and I are more exhausted then she is.  Dad has made wonderful breakfasts for us every day when we got home.

PAINTING THE BABIES ROOM

I went over to Tiffany and Daniels house and was suppose to help Tiffany paint the babies room. She got several different colors to decide from.  I think that she realized that I am not a very good painter.

Of course she only gave me a little sponge on a stick to paint with.  After I painted that big brown spot on her wall we all decided that it needs to be a darker brown. Or maybe they figure they will need a darker brown to cover up the mess I made on the wall.
Tiffany and Daniel has decided to use the pastel pink and green on the top part of the wall. They are going to make strips.  I think is will be very cute when it is completed.
We started going through some of the baby things that they have received already.  Wow, she hasn't even had a baby shower yet and they already have a lot of stuff.  She washed all the clothes and we put half of them on hangers.  The other half will go in the dresser as soon as we can get to it.  Tiffany, Geraldine and I ran off to Walmart for a while as well.  We spent most of our time in the baby section. "OF COURSE"  but had a lot of fun though.  I plan on going back over next week after the baby shower and help them with getting everything organized. I'm betting Daniel will have the room painted before I get back over there after seeing the way I paint.

Wednesday Mary 25, 2011

Dad went with Mom and I to her radiation treatment, After Mom was done we went and picked up my daughter Tiffany. Everyone was really excited to spend the day with her. We are now on our way to Luke Air Force Base to pick up Mom and Dad's prescription's and get some grocery's.
There was no problem getting on the base at all, but when we were walking into the pharmacy they were not going to let Tiffany and I in, because we do not have a military ID card. I explained to the guy I have to be there to make sure my parents give the prescription's correctly. I think the only reason he let us in was because Tiffany batted her pretty blue eye at him or maybe because she is pregnant.
Since we have to wait an hour for the medication to be filled we decided to head over to the commissary and get some groceries.  Poor Mom we got her one of the scooters to ride around in the store but it was having major problems. Every time Mom would stop the scooter it would continue to go but not forward it would go backwards. She would have to turn it completely off each time she wanted to stop. By the time she was done shopping and on our way out to the car she was a total nervous wreck.
Well if the story ended here it wouldn't be as exciting so here is best part of the story.
Just as we were trying to get off the base to go home, the base went on HIGH alert and they LOCKED down the entire base. They were not allowing anyone off or on the base at all.  There was military police blocking roads and walking up and down the streets. Come to find out they were evacuating half the base. Supposedly there was a situation happening at one of the gas stations on the base. We sat in a long line of other cars that were trying to get off too.  I asked the man in charge if there was any way we could go to a different exit and get of the base because my Mom is on oxygen. He told me NO and if she runs out take her to the base hospital.
We now have a lot of groceries and a lot of medication in the truck of the car and it is 100 degrees out side.
We ended up walking around another store on the base it is called the BX. I love that store and now Tiffany loves it too. She found lots of stuff she wants.
2 1/2 hours later we were told we could leave the base now. Yippee!!!!
By now we are all starving and needed food really really bad.  We enjoyed a nice late lunch at the Olive Garden.
We dropped Tiffany off at her house then headed home. We were all extremely tired.
Watching the 5:00pm news they talked about what had happened on the base today. Well come to find out it was just an exercise, they were practicing just in case something happens. I really wish they would have told us when we entered the base. It was a little scary not knowing what was going on.

Tuesday May 24, 2011

Mom and Dad both had doctor's appointments with the same doctor. The weirdest part of the appointment Mom's blood pressure was really high.

And Dad's pulse was almost non-existing. You could just imagine how the nurses and doctor acted.  He gave Mom a new prescription to help with her GERD.  And gave Dad a new prescription to bring up his pulse, but he has to take his blood pressure twice a day and if it is under 110 systolic then he is not suppose to take the medication. That is so complicated I am concerned that Dad will either just take it all the time or not at all.

Four Hour Day Trip

I went over and picked up Mom and Dad today, we decided to do something completely different then go see doctors.
A good friend of theirs passed away this week, so I took them to the funeral.  It was very hot outside but in the shade it wasn't to bad. The funny part the lady that passed away was late to her own funeral.  I'm still not really sure she showed up because there was only a very little cardboard box that was on this little table.

After that I took Mom and Dad to a buffet restaurant that Karl and I just love.  I was a little disappointed, they didn't have any of the items that Dad and I enjoy.  We found out that they only serve the spareribs and steak for dinner.  Go figure we were only 4 hours early.

I thought since we were over by Mom and Dad's old house, I would take them there so they can see the changes the new owner has done to the house.  The house actually looks good. The wonderful fruit trees are still there and the lemon tree that Dad planted the day Karl was born is huge.  The color of the house is different, and they put a small wall around the yard.  I think that the house looks great.  Now for the rest of the neighborhood it looked like a ghost town. Most of the houses are empty and been vandalized.

There is graffiti all over the walls of the houses and windows broken out.  The weeds in the front yards were 4 feet high.  It was so sad seeing how bad that neighborhood has gotten.

On the way home Dad mentioned that he would like to stop at JC Penney's and get a couple pairs of pants.  I just don't understand why he needs new pants.  The poor guy has lots of pants that are too big or too small.  Mom and I keep buying him pants and they never fit him.  But he puts them in the closet with the other ones in hope that they will fit some day.  By the way, we had no luck finding the color pants Dad wanted.  So Home We Went.
We did this whole trip today in 4 hours.  Not bad if I do say so myself.

Friday was a busy Day

Mom had her radiation treatment and after that she was told she had an appointment with the Dr. Yang.  He is such a nice guy, he always takes time to talk with us, and if we have any question or concerns he is there for us.  He says the lung mass has decreased in size, he also said that when Mom is done with all her treatments, he will just monitor her for awhile and see if there is any changes.  He is very confident that the treatments are doing it's job, and we shouldn't have to worry about it anymore.  Sure makes me feel better.

Dad also had a Doctor appointment for his eye today.  Dad's eye sight has been getting worse every day.  When they did the eye exam he could hardly see the big letter "E".   He has scar tissue from his cataract surgery that needs to be removed. The Doctor says it will only take up to 15 seconds and there will be no pain.  So Dad agreed to have the surgery.  This is planned for the middle of June.

Rainy Day

Yesterday Karl decided he wanted to go with me over to Mom and Dad's house.  He needed to work on his project he is making for one of his classes.  He designed a building with lots of windows and he has to build it out of foam board.  They decided that the scroll saw was just not going to work cutting out the pieces.  So by hand Karl is cutting it all out.  He had the whole living room covered with foam board.

Mom's radiation treatment and Doctor's appointment was awesome yesterday.  We arrived early to both and was taken in right away. No waiting for either one.  Dr. Beechler her lung doctor is who we saw and he also thinks Mom is doing fantastic. He doesn't want to see her for another 3 months.  I will take that as really good news.
They canceled her radiation treatment for tomorrow, they need to do maintenance on the machine.  Mom only has 5 more treatments left.  YEAH!!!!

On the way home it started to rain. It seemed like it was raining really hard but the street and sidewalks were not wet.  Even when Mom and I got home her car wasn't even wet.  The rain was evaporating as fast as it hit the ground.

Of course another rainy day and when I am driving my car with my new windshield wipers it stops raining.  I still haven't used those things.  But as soon as I pulled up to my house it started to rain hard. My patio looked like a swimming pool.  The dogs were not happy at all.  They hate getting there little paws wet.

The best part of a rainy day is the awesome Rainbows.

Plumber I Am Not

I hate washing dishes!!!!!! And this is the reason why.
Yesterday my Dad made a wonderful breakfast for Mom and I.   Well, while I was doing the dishes, I heard a noise coming from the sink that sounded like  someone was knocking.  I told my Dad and come to find out I managed to clog up the drain, and I mean CLOGGED...  So Dad goes and gets his trusty clog opener "The Snake".  Now this weird looking thing is older then my sister and I put together.  And of course Mom is sitting there laughing at me because I was making these funny faces.  As Dad is pushing this wire looking snake thing down the drain I got the job of twisting it by hand. Okay if that wasn't bad enough I ended up breaking the Snake, I twisted it to much and it got all tangled and bent.  But being the clever man my father is he fixed it.  Which meant here we go again twisting that dang Snake.  The second round was the charm the water in the sink finally went down.  Yeah!!!!

F.Y.I. Nancy, I am leaving all the dishes from now on for you to do!!!!!

Doctor's Appointment

Yesterday after Mom's treatment she saw Dr. Yang the radiation doctor.  He said her lungs sound good and he thinks she is doing awesome.  He told Mom that when she is done with her treatments that she is more then welcome to come back anytime for a visit only.  I am taking that as a positive comment as in the treatments are working.  He is friends with Mom's Pulmonary doctor and he was telling us that he thinks that Dr. Beechler is going to be retiring soon.  Now that will truly be a loss in the medical field, he has honestly kept my mother alive for the last 13 1/2 years.

Tiffany's Doctor Appointment

Tiffany had her monthly doctor's appointment yesterday. The doctor says she is doing great and so is my granddaughter Izabella. He also told her that the swelling in her feet is normal. Her sugar test came back perfect.
I have been so worried about Tiffany because she has been extremely tired and the swelling in her feet seemed to me to be a lot. Not to mention the back pain she has been experiencing. She went out and bought a tummy belt to hold her stomach up. She said it is helping with the back pain.
Daniel and Tiffany have been working on the babies room, getting it painted and the furniture put together. I keep telling them that I would come over and supervise. I'm still waiting for that call.

COUNT DOWN

Mom only has 11 more radiation treatments left. She is doing fantastic. She seems to have lots of energy and is eating very well.  I think when she is done with her treatments she will miss all the awesome people there.

Three Months Ago

About 3 month's ago it was raining out side and my windshield wipers were so sun rotted they were falling apart. (I know it never rains in Arizona but it sure was raining hard and hailing baseball size hail that day) So I told my Dad and we stopped and picked up some new ones. They don't make windshield wipers like they use to. It takes an army to figure out how to take them off and put them back on. My Dad even crawled up on the hood of my SUV and those little suckers were not coming off.  After about an hour or so we gave up and called Uncle Paul to help.  I went over to Nancy and Paul's house, which luckly it stopped raining. Paul changed out the wipers so fast I couldn't believe it (5 minutes tops). And of course it hasn't rained since either. I sure am glad Dad and I rushed right out and bought them. lol
Well the whole reason for this story is yesterday Karl and I were sitting at a stop light and I heard a loud clicking noise coming from my engine. I got really scared that my engine was going to blow. I pulled over and Karl looked under the hood and my windshield wiper was hitting the fan and making all that noise. Now I know there was no way that wiper could have fallen off!!!!  But, both of the wipers were still attached. So where the heck did this one come from??? After a few minutes I realized it was one of the old ones. I guess my favorite Brother-in-law forgot to throw away the used one and left it under the hood. I'm sure he thought I might need it some day.  Karl and I just laughed and laughed over this.

Birthday's and Mother's Day

Yesterday the whole family got together and went to Fort McDowell Casino, we were celebrating several things. 1st was Paul's Birthday and Dad's Birthday which both were in April. We are a little slow at celebrations lately.  We were also celebrating Mother's Day as well.

Tiffany made Grandma 2 awesome T-shirts for Mother's Day, they said "Great Grandma To Be."  Karl and Tiffany gave me a new camera for Mother's Day, it is awesome, I didn't realize how much the technology in camera's have improved.  This camera does all kinds of things. I can't wait for my granddaughter to get here so I can take lots and lots of pictures of her.

After we got done eating a couple 100 pounds of crab legs. We all took off to spend our hard earned money in the casino. Dad and I played a penny machine that seemed to keep us playing for a really long time. After we tripled our money we pulled it and moved on. Dad sat down at a quarter machine and I think on his first spin he won. He pulled his money and then put another $20 in it and won again. At that point I went to check on Mom. She was holding her own on this fishy slot machine she was playing. All the kids were hanging out at different times with Grandma making sure she was winning.  Everyone else was moving around and loosing there money quick. At one point I caught up to Tiffany and she was sitting at a machine not playing, I tried to get her to play this penguin slot machine but she wasn't feeling to good. I can't blame her, when I looked down at her feet, they were so swollen. She had no ankles. Shortly after that they decided it was time to go home.

At one point Dad, Nancy, Paul and Me were playing the Wizard of Oz penny slot machines.  We were having a lot of fun getting the bonuses. Finally Mom and Karl showed up and joined us, it was funny because our family had the whole section of machines. Not to brag but I was the only one that won on those machines.
Time to go home, and we always play the dollar machine on our way out the door. Everyone puts in a $20.00 and we each take turns spinning. We actually won this time. We each doubled our money. NICE!!!!
When we got home Karl started looking for his phone, couldn't find it any where. Unfortunately he must of lost it at the casino. So off to the phone store we will go.

It sure was a fun night out, we all needed the distraction.

Hot, Hot, Hot

It has been extremely hot the last couple of days and it is just the start of summer.
Yesterday Dad's thermometer said it was 100 degrees. I had to call him when I got home and tease him, my thermometer only said 99 degrees.

Today my thermometer said 101 degrees. This hot dry heat is hard on everyone this time a year.

Thinking about Grandma Vasey

While Mom and I were at her radiation appointment we meet a lady that reminded me about my Grandma Vasey. This lady looked a lot like her, not a hair out of place and makeup was perfect. She was so energetic and happy. She was telling me that she is 90 years old and still lives alone and drives. She also said that she has never been sick a day in her life until now. Being the nosey blonde that I am, I asked her where her cancer was, she pointed to her knuckle on her hand.  I said are you kidding me, you are 90 years old and just now getting cancer and it's on your knuckle, she just smiled and said yes can you believe it.
I got to thinking about Grandma Vasey and imaging her riding around on a scooter like my Mom has, no one would be able to catch her. She would be out of control zooming around the streets of Belleplain. And Uncle Gene getting mad because he would have to go and find her. lol

Arizona Cold Water

Today went really well at the radiation therapy appointment, Mom seemed glad to have another treatment over with.  We stopped at the grocery store on the way home just to pick up banana's and ended up buying a whole lot more. When we got home Dad had put his laundry basket in the kitchen, I got the feeling that he needed some clothes washed.  No problem, I put it all in the washer.  Well the best part of this was when I took them out of the dryer and gave them to Mom to fold, she ran across these really odd looking socks.  Her face was worth million bucks because she kept looking at them and turning them around and finally said I don't understand, what's wrong with these socks.

I thought I was going to bust a gut, I was laughing so hard. And of course Dad's response to his socks was "that's what happens when Mom uses cold water to wash my socks."

What a crazy day

I was taking Mom to her radiation appointment this morning and they called and told me not to come because there computers are down. Of course they call when I was only a mile away, so I told them we would show up and wait too see it the computers start working.  Well we hung around for over an hour and nope they couldn't fix them.  They ended up canceling todays treatment and adding another day to her treatments.

Mom and I then picked up Dad and both of them got their hair cut.  I took them to a new barber shop and the lady that cut their hair did a fantastic job.  After that we tried a new Chinese Buffet that just opened up by their house and it was actually really good.  And I don't like Chinese food. YUCK!!!

When we finally got home I went out back and Dad's big tomato plant was almost dead. For some reason that plant has to be watered every day or it wilts. Dad thinks that is so crazy, he has never had to water a plant daily and I don't have to water mine every day. So I hooked up a drip system to his tomato plant that way he can turn the water on really slow in the morning and then turn it off at night. Lets hope it works, and I did find a couple of baby tomato's on his plant.

After all that I went home to my house and found my tomato plant looking like it was dying of thirst too. I only gave it a little water yesterday with Miracle Grow, I guess I should have given it more.  My dogs on the other hand were so happy to see me. They don't like it when I leave early in the morning.
