Outlet Mall

Aunt Nancy and I met up with Tiffany, Daniel and Izabella at the outlet mall to go shopping at the Coach Store. As you can see Izabella made out really great too. There was so many children clothes stores there and I think Aunt Nancy and I bought something in each one.
(Tiffany spelled Spoiled wrong not me)

We just couldn't help ourselves Izabella was being so good, and not complaining about the shopping trip, so we had to treat her to something special.
Daniel spent his birthday money on a new pair of Coach shoes. Nancy got a new purse. I got new sunglasses. Tiffany got a new hair clip from another store. I'm sure she wanted a bunch of other stuff, but she wasn't speaking up loud enough.
What a fun day we all had and I sure hope we get to do it again.

Look at those cheeks

Squeeze, squeeze, squeeze!!!!!
You can't help but want to squeeze her cheeks. Except for the night that Tiffany and Daniel went out, and Auntie GG and I were babysitting. They left around 7:00pm and said that Izabella should fall a sleep in a few minutes. Well Auntie GG tried laying in bed with her, tried sitting in the lounge chair with a cartoon on. And every time I would come around the corner to check on them, I would get this grin from Izabella that would just make me smile and laugh. Thank goodness Mommy and Daddy came home when they did because any longer and I think that Izabella would have successfully put Auntie GG to sleep!!!!
IZABELLA ROSE MENDEZ
The sunshine of your precious smile
could melt the coldest heart.
It brightens up my dreary day
When we are far apart.
The memory of your little hand
holding mine so tight
brings a warm glow to my heart
on a cold and dreary night.
Those little arms that hug my neck will
soon be big and strong; you're growing up
so quickly so it won't be very long.
So I'll take your hugs and kisses now,
cause the day will soon be here,
when you'll think you're much too big,
for me to hold so near.

Hurray Real Food

But she doesn't like that yucky old cereal.... She wants the good stuff like BROCCOLI.... I have never seen a kid who loves broccoli... YUCK YUCK YUCK
I just can't wait to give her, her first turkey leg... I just hope there won't be a fight between Uncle Karl and Izabella for it though.
I was over at Tiffany and Daniels house one Friday night and they let me feed Izabella. I don't blame her for not wanting to eat that cereal stuff, it even smelled YUCKY...  So I asked Geraldine to stick her finger in it and taste it to see if it tasted any good.  Needless to say she did it, she also said it tasted gross.  As Daniel is looking at her and said that it was made with breast milk. Geraldine's face was worth a million bucks.

Can I drive it, Please....

Izabella already has her Uncle Karl wrapped around her little finger. No one else is aloud to drive or even sit in Karl's new car, but Izabella is...
Karl just bought a 1965 Ford Mustang in awesome condition. Since he brought that car home he has been spending every waking moment with it. I really am surprised that he doesn't sleep in it.
He even has built a tent at his Dads house for his car to live in.
I am figuring Uncle Karl will be the one Izabella goes to when she is ready to learn to drive or wants to borrow the Mustang.
I have to admit it, it is an awesome car. But thank goodness Grandpa has free towing because as you know the old saying "found on road dead" well unfortunately twice now we have had to have it towed home. And it never fails it is always when Karl drives it to work. Maybe that's a sign that he shouldn't be driving it so much. Nope that will never happen, Karl loves the attention he gets when he is in his Beautiful Mustang!!!

First Surgery

Nancy was in a car accident several months ago, and she has been having lots of pain in her right arm.
The doctors have been treating her with physical therapy and medication but the pain wouldn't go away.
They finally decided to do rotator cuff surgery and found everything in there was torn and in bad shape.
Nancy had never had surgery before so this was a new experience for her. You know usually she is always waiting in the waiting room for someone else to have surgery done.
When I called her that night after the surgery she sounded so sad and in pain. But the next day she sounded awesome. She told me to come get her tomorrow and take her to the shopping mall.  I think this transformation was because the doctor told her to double up on the pain medication. I think she was LOOPY....

Pearly Whites

Not only is Izabella getting new teeth Great Grandpa did too.
Dad and I made many trips to the Dental school and became fast friends with the students. Dad says its because they had their fingers in his mouth all the time is why they liked him.
His new teeth makes him look a lot younger.  It has taken him awhile to get use to them because they are so much bigger then the ones he had.  On his first visit when the doctor asked him why he wanted new dentures, Dad's comment was he wants to be able to eat corn on the cob again!!!!!  They said they couldn't promise that but they sure would do their best to help him out. After several visits and months later when Dad finally was able to wear his new teeth home he was so happy. He actually smiles more now.

She is 8 months old...

Tiffany and Daniel sure do a great job at dressing my beautiful grand baby up. Every time I spend time with her I fall more and more in love with her.
Izabella now has her own personality, she smiles and laughs all the time. I have noticed that absolutely no one can walk by her without smiling at her or stoping to touch her and talk to her.
Aunt Nancy and I went shopping with Daniel and Izabella a couple weeks ago, and it was so much fun. We found out that Izabella loves ice cubes, I am sure it's because her two bottom teeth just came in.
I could tell that Aunt Nancy really wanted to hold Izzy but couldn't because she had just had surgery a few days ago. Sorry Sis I got to hog her all day.

Babysitting My Granddaughter for the first time.

Babysitting Izabella is a a lot of fun as long as you keep her happy and her blanket available for her to smell.  If she doesn't see or smell her mommy she starts crying and crying and crying.

I decided to set her in her bouncy thing at the front door, to watch for her mom and dad to come home from their date. It was so funny it looks like she's trying to escape. Izabella absolutely will not go to sleep without her mom and dad being there. Izabella and I had a lot of quality time together.

Oh has anyone noticed that I sure do love my granddaughter.
Truth be told, there's nothing better than being a grandparent. All our elders know this and it is evidenced by that twinkle in their eyes. Of course, they know more than they let on—life's secrets have come to them through time, experience, and patience.

Vegas here I come

The second week in January 2012 the company that I use to work for ask me to come along with them on a all expense paid Las Vegas trip. No way could I turn that down.  I had a blast hanging out with my old friends. Didn't win a thing though, but thats okay.

On my way back from Las Vegas I got the call from Nancy telling me that Mom is being admitted into the hospital for pneumonia. I kind of figured something was going to happen while I was gone. Mom had been sleeping alot the last couple of weeks.

The whole family ganged up on Mom in her hospital room and we all sat there and and stared at her. Her coloring was much better and she stayed awake the whole time we were there. I think she was afraid to fall a sleep because we might do something silly like draw pictures on her feet.

She didn't spend too much time there about a week. She was also having alot of pain in her stomach and back area. Come to find out she had shingles.  Shingles are very very painful and mom was put on 2 different kinds of pain medication.
Mom wasn"t about to spend to much time in the hospital.  Last year she missed the Superbowl and her wedding anniversary.  Not this year though. She got lucky both the Superbowl and Mom and Dad's 58th wedding anniversary was on the same day.  The whole family including some of Tiffany and Daniel's friends and the some of the neighbors, went over to Mom and Dad's to watch the superbowl and eat good food (of  course we made my Dad cook), spend time with Mom and Dad on their anniversary.

GOING, GOING, GONE

2011 is gone forever but not the
wonderful memories
that it has given each and everyone of us.
Thank you to my amazing family and friends
for all the help and support
you all have given me through this last year.
Love you all very much!!!!!

CHRISTMAS MORNING 2011

At Nancy and Paul's House

Now this was the best Christmas ever.
Of course it was Izabella's first Christmas
and we spoiled her.
But I think this was the
first time no one had the flu.

I want you to notice how clean the
living room is in this first picture.
Take notice that there is cream colored carpet on the floor...

Izabella opening her very first Christmas Present...

Daniel had the biggest present of all.
I think he had more fun putting it together.
He also got the job of putting his
daughters new toys together.
Paul was looking at the gift that his Mother and Father in law gave him.  I tell you what my Dad out did himself this year.  He gave everyone 2 stuffed animals and he took the stuffing out of one of them and filled it with one dollar bills.  Poor Paul he just absolutely could not firgure out why someone gave him stuffed animals.  Now the best part of this is when Geraldine figured it out that the butt of one of the stuffed animals had been resewn and she ripped it open and started screaming and money was flying every where.  And then there was Paul still looking very confused, when he did figure it out he sure did hide his stuffed animal really quick.
Great Grandma wanted a key board for Christmas and that is what she got. She started playing with it right away and totally forgot she had other presents to open.
Grandpa made Karl a necktie
out of wood to wear to work.
Karl is so proud of that tie
he actually wore it to work.
As you can see
Nancy wasn't excited at all about her present,
She has been hinting for a whole year
that she wanted a
Vera Bradley Wallet,
but she not only got that but she got a
Coach Purse and Vera Bradley Watch.
My Dad is trying to figure out
what his present is,
and believe it or not he actually told us what he wanted.
He asked for was a zip up sweater.
Hey, he got one but
he is having a very hard time zipping it up,
because it is a women's sweater...
Did you know that
women and men's zippers
zip up differently??
I guess Santa didn't know that either....
Paul and Nancy's dog Coco
resting after playing with her new toy.
I bought her a ball that
talks every time she would move it.
That dog went crazy over it.
She would cry and scream
like she was hurt until you give it to her.
I heard she even took it to bed with her that night.
And I also heard that Paul threw it away the next day.

Geraldine is so fun to watch at
Christmas time she gets so excited over the craziest things.
I do know that if she gets anymore gifts we will have to
send in the fire department to rescue her.

I think that Tiffany and Izabella are under all that wrapping paper.
Yep they are and having the time of their life.
I think that Tiffany was very tired of opening
presents by the time she got done.

I would like you to take notice of the
living room floor now.
What a mess but totally worth it all.

The rocking chair that Izabella is sitting in,
was Nancy and mine from when we were little.
Nancy has had it at her house for many years.
I am guessing that Coco doesn't like the idea
that there is someone sitting in her chair.

Christmas is over the baby fell a sleep.

CHRISTMAS EVE 2011

IZABELLA ROSE MENDEZ
DEDICATION

It was a special day for Izabella, her Mom and Dad had her dedicated into their church. The whole family and a lot of special friends were there to cherish the moment with her.

Izabella was so tired after all the excitement.
Izabella's best friends were there as well,
and as you can see they all love to spend time with the Great Grandparents.

Zuzu and Annie in Great Grandpa's Lap

And doesn't Nancy look like Sarah Palin????

My favorite little TURKEY

I know this is out of place,
but when I saw the Halloween picture,
I got excited and had to post it right away.

Oops I forgot to post Izabella's Halloween picture.

Tiffany made her costume by hand. Izzy sure does make a cute Bumble Bee....

Thanksgiving 2011
